Expert
Expert class was full of drama throughout the day including early disaster for Bobby Moyer who only made it a few hundred meters into Test 1 at Cringle Plantation before clipping a tree and fracturing his right elbow. Making his preparation for FIM World Enduro Championship less than ideal.
Fellow riders Ash Kelly and Orry Millward stopped to assist Bobby. The Expert test 1 was ultimately dropped from the result. Current champion Craig Norrey took an early lead and had a comfortable gap over 2nd placed Jordan Corkill (Honda) and Ashley Kelly in 3rd on board an older Yamaha YZ 250. Leader Craig Norrey hit bike trouble in Cringle with his Sherco ignition appearing to break down under load.
Smelling blood in the water Ashley took the lead from Jordan on lap 5 pulling a minute on Cringle test and a further 40secs on the first of the back-to-back tests at Arrasey and again on the final Arrasey test increasing his lead to 2mins41secs by the finish. Orry Milward took the final podium step in 3rd place.
Clubman
The Les Jones Shield for the winner of the Clubman class was awarded to Stan Cubbon, who dominated from the start, winning every test while riding a significantly upgraded Beta compared with the CR125 he campaigned last year. Harry Kampz delivered a steady performance to secure second place, staying ahead of Alex Bottomley in third. Keiran Akers finished close behind Alex, just 25 seconds adrift at the flag, taking fourth place.
Veteran
Only one competitor and finisher in this class Nigel Beaumont rode a reduced schedule, took victory and then did another lap to remove route marking.
Sportsman
First time timecard enduro riders Adam Rutter and Steven Teare finished in first and second places followed by current and former road racers Wayne Avis in third place and Simon Fulton fourth. Pete Williamson was a first time enduro finisher. Shantelle Thorpe broke a gear lever in neutral and was unable to continue. Phil Gunnell was reported to be passing most of the field in the tests however his LED headlight was interfering with the timing system and caused him to DNF with only 1 test time recorded. Triple threat Stevie Cowell, Matthew Walmsley & John Murray decided to call it a day at various times throughout the day.
