Dalby Timecard Enduro Centre Round 1 2025 Result

The Gadget Geeks sponsored Dalby Timecard Enduro Centre Round 1 took place on the clubs land at Carnagrie on Sunday Feb 9th.

Due to the storms over Christmas and into the new year the club was unable to access DEFA land as many of the plantations are still wind damaged. The club made use of its own land at Carnagrie and farmland at Ballaspit with some going over the hills behind Slieau Whallian.

Luckily the weather leading up to the event was relatively dry and there was no rain on the day. Any rain would have made the steep and already challenging Ballaspit test very difficult for the 35 competitors.

After sign-on and a technical inspection by the IoM Scrutineer Assoc, the bikes headed to Ballaspit via the Barnell and Slieau Whallian greenway roads, taking the route around the rear of Slieau Whallian to reach the summit. The field had a sighting lap to familiarise themselves with the layout of steep descents and uphill challenges. Finishing at the top and following the course over farmland to Carnagrie for a second timed test on the club’s land.

Expert class was run over 8 timed tests winner was Max Ingham onboard the Triumph he rode in the ISDE 2024 Junior World Trophy. Second youngster Jack Keenan almost 3mins behind but 26 secs ahead of third placed, last year’s champion Craig Norrey. Jordan Corkill continued last year’s good form to take fourth spot including a 2min penalty for some creative lines on Ballaspit. Back from injury Ash Kelly unfortunately had electrical issues with his KTM. Mark Turner had potential mechanical issues on his similar machine.

Clubman rode 1 less lap than Experts and 6 timed tests. Winner was ISDE finisher Alistair Heginbotham enjoying the wide-open grass tests. Will Duggan was second 1min 35secs down and only 4 tenths of second ahead of third placed Daniel Lane. Timothy Dedman was another mere 7 tenths of a second behind. Incredibly 1.1 seconds covered places 2nd to 4th. Teenager Callum Christian onboard a 125 Yamaha was placed fifth clubman 1min back from Dedman an impressive performance given his lack experience.

Veteran class only had 2 entrants and was won by the ever consistent Russell Millward from ISDE finisher Mike Turner 3mins down after 6 tests.

Sportsman had a less milage to cover with only 2 laps and a total of 5 tests. Winner was part-time road racer Wayne Avis 50 secs ahead of second placed Phil Gunnell followed by Simon Fulton carrying a penalty for missing a turn on Carnagrie. Fourth place went to Carl Wynne-Smythe from David Watling and visitor Kevin Iddon in fifth and sixth places respectively. Neil Ogden was the final finisher on board a CRF 250. Championship hopeful Sam Wheeler had charging issues and failed to complete the sighting lap on Ballaspit. John Murray, Shantelle Thorpe, Richard Lowes, Pete Williamson, Stephen Cowell and Matthew Walmsley all DNF'd due mainly to the difficult terrain in Ballaspit. Well done to all who rode it was a challenging event for all.

The club would like to thank everyone who helped and assisted on the day. Hogg Motorsport Assoc. for the medical cover, the team from IoM Scrutineer Assoc. Themla Corrin and Gordon Clague at Ballaspit and Phil Kennaugh at Slieau Whallian and Carnagrie.
